DANIEL KAINZ (* November 5, 1994)
I am a freelance camera assistant and cameraman based in Hamburg and Vienna.
While studying Business Information Sytems at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, I started working as a freelancer in production and costume. The first major project was the historical three-part series „Maximilian – Ein Spiel von Macht und Liebe“ After successfully completing my bachelor’s degree, I started working as a production assistant mainly in advertising. Little by little I started to gain experience with the camera through my own productions. In addition, I started working as a 1st camera assistant, first for student films, then for paid projects. Through a wide range of projects, I was able to acquire a lot of experience, above all focus pulling.
Because of my work as a freelancer, I was able to spend a lot of time traveling and getting to know the world. Especially on my travels through Africa, I was able to deepen my interest in nature photography. Above all, the flexibility I learned and the ability to react to situations help me a lot as a camera assistant. Therefore, besides my job, I try to practice my hobby as a nature photographer as well as possible.
